Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco (born in Laguna, Philippines, May 10, 1992, age 19 years), or better known as Charice (abbreviation of the two first names), is an international singer from the Philippines who became known through YouTube.

He is currently recording his debut album in the first 3 months in 2009. The album will be released by Warner Bros. label. and will be produced by his mentor, David Foster.

Early LifeCharice was born in Cabuyao, Laguna, Philippines. Together with his younger brother, Carl, he was raised solely by his mother, Raquel, after parting with his father due to domestic violence when Charice was three years old.To help finance his family, he began an amateur singing contest when he was seven years old, performing in the province of Laguna, where they live, to some singing competition on television. Reportedly, he has followed over 80 singing contests.In 2005, Charice follow ABS-CBN's Little Big Star, a talent show in the Philippines which is similar to American Idol. Eliminated after her first appearance, she was later called back as a wildcard contender and become a finalist. Although he was always getting high scores in the final, he only won 3.Charice appeared several times on local television, but his popularity began to decline after the Little Big Star. Until 2007 he drew the attention of the world because someone with the pseudonym "FalseVoice" memunggah video on YouTube. The video makes the phenomenon in cyberspace.[Edit] CareerIn June 2007, Charice was invited to a demo recording for Ten Songs / Productions, a music company in Stockholm, Sweden. She recorded seven songs - six old songs and a new song entitled "Amazing". Some of these songs were also recorded for the album in the Philippines whose title is taken from the name itself, Charice.After the video when he sang the song of Dreamgirls' And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going "became a hit on the Korean website for sharing video, Charice was invited to the South Korean talent show, Star King. In the episode on October 13, 2007, she sang "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" and "A Whole New World" with Kyuhyun from Super Junior.After seeing his performance in Star King through YouTube, Ellen DeGeneres invited Charice as a guest on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. For the first time Charice flew k United States and featured two songs on the December 19, 2007 episode of the show - "I Will Always Love You" and "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going".After his appearance on Ellen, Charice performed a second time on Star King in South Korea as a "Favorite Foreign Singer" at the December 28 episode. She sang songs of Gloria Gaynor, "I Will Survive" and a duet with singer Lena Park.Charice had been invited to the MalacaƱang Palace in January 2008 where he met and performed in the presence of the President of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. He returned to the international world in 2008 when he was a guest on the show The Paul O'Grady Show episode 8 April in London, England.He also appeared in the musical comedy drama Glee as Sunshine Corazon and play.
